It's a while since I updated this. February
in fact. And I just managed to delete it too!! Grrrr. So here I go
again. Hope you enjoy this after all this work!!!
I'm back home in Melbourne. Isn't the
link cool? If you'd like to know how I did it, drop me a line and I'll let you in on
my secret.
I am settling into my new job. I have a temporary assignment at the moment, with
a great view.
I'm working for DMR as a consultant. At the moment I'm managing a project office
on a development project that we are doing for VicRoads. I'm not sure what I'll be
doing next, but this assignment ends in a couple of weeks, so I should know soon.
I'm enjoying working in the city, and I haven't found the travelling as much of a
trauma as everyone in Darwin told me it would be. Mind you, it's not the same my
easy 15 minute drive from Nightcliff into town used to be, but you quickly get used to the
traffic. Luckily for me, Trish and Janet, two of my sisters, work nearby, so I get a
ride in with them most days. Occasionally I catch the train, and the station is just
around the corner, so it's a really convenient alternative. Oh, for those of you who
are wondering how long the trip is, it can be between 45 minutes and an hour. It's
not often faster than 45 minutes unfortunately. On the weekend it would take around
about half an hour.
I've been having a good time on the 'events' front. I've seen
"Showboat" and went to "Opera at the Markets". I'm off to see
"Rent" in a couple of weeks, followed by the English ballet doing "Swan
Lake", and "The Boy from Oz". I'm also looking forward to visiting
the zoo and the gallery.
Staying with Mum and Dad has major benefits too, not counting the fact that they have
Foxtel! Dad does my washing and ironing fo rme and Mum has dinner on the table for
me every night. I am so spoiled at the moment. I'm really enjoying it.
I am househunting at the moment. I'm finding the whole thing rather daunting.
There are so many decisions to be made. Do I choose location or price?
Do I buy an old house that needs renovation, a new house, or a recently established
house? Still, it's fun picking up brochures, visiting display homes, etc etc.
It will be a whole new interest for me, and a new expense too!! And I must find out
how far Dad is willing to travel ... perhaps I can still get my washing and ironing done.
Oh, and I love being able to go to Myer!!!
That's all for now.
