Wow. I'm actually updating this in a little over five weeks.
Now that's gotta be a record! At the moment I'm house hunting. I've added a hot
topics link to my home page, because I'm getting tired of typing in the URLs for www.property.com.au and www.realestate.com.au. It's been extremely
useful looking up houses on the net. I'm a great one for gathering lots of
information before I decide to do something. This way I can do this, without having
to run the gauntlet of aggressive real estate agents.
Fortunately for me, some friends of mine, Carrie and Ron, have been househunting too.
They kindly took me along with them on a couple of expeditions, and I discovered
that house inspections didn't have to be traumatic. Mind you, they are going to move
right across Melbourne. To Cockatoo in fact. Here are some pics of their new house.
I started looking at houses for myself on Saturday. My mum came with me to give
me moral support. She was a great help. It's amazing how much you actually
miss while you're looking at the house. Important things like where was the heater.
Mind you, we'll get better at it. Carrie came along to give us a hand later
in the day, and that made it easier to check the places out. I hadn't realised how
much hard work it was.
On Mother's Day we had the whole family over. That gave us the opportunity to
take family photos, so we have a series of these. I'll be scanning them and adding
them to the family page. We try to take family photos every
once in a while. It's amazing to look back and see how much we've all changed.
It's lovely to see the younger generation growing up too.
I went to see "Rent!" a few weeks ago. I haven't really made up my mind
what I thought of it. I think I'll have to see it again. The dancing was
wonderful, the singing was great, the sets were terrific - and yet, it didn't really touch
my heart.
I'm off to see "Swan Lake", performed by the English Ballet, on Friday night.
I'm really looking forward to that. I just picked up the tickets for
"The Boy from Oz", which we are going to at the end of July.
I'm having a lot of fun with my various websites. A friend on #30+
put me on to a great site tracker, which has let me see where all the Flagman's visitors come from. It's
fascinating to see hits from Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, and Uruguay, amongst others.
I'm looking forward to seeing if the new site I've created brings more visitors,
however I'm having trouble publishing the site at the moment. (Technical support is
not a strong point at my internet service provider! I'll definitely be moving my
site at the end of the contract.)
I've created a #30+ Community Noticeboard
as well. This one is a free service for the IRC channel where I chat in the
evenings. I'll see how many people make use of it. If it's successful I'll
leave it up there.
I'm starting to get interested in the Olympics - I'll probably search out some good
sites and then add them to my Home Page. I don't think I'll go to the Olympics
myself, however I love watching them on TV.
Well, that's enough for now. Hope you enjoy catching up on the news. If you
get a chance, drop me a line and say hi.
